Ontario Northland Temporarily Suspending Rail Passenger Service between Cochrane and Moosonee

Ontario Northland is temporarily suspending service for the Polar Bear Express passenger train following a decision made collaboratively with the Government of Ontario, Mushkegowuk Council, Moose Cree First Nation, and the Town of Moosonee. There will be no scheduled train service as of Tuesday, April 7th, 2020.

The decision to temporarily suspend service is a preventative measure in response to COVID-19. All parties have a heightened concern as remote communities are especially vulnerable to the threat of this virus.

We will continue to monitor the situation and adapt as necessary.

Freight service between Cochrane and Moosonee will continue as scheduled, ensuring the transportation of essential supplies including food, medical supplies, building materials, fuel, and equipment.

Passengers who have reservations beyond April 6th will be contacted and fully reimbursed. You can also call us to cancel your reservation 1-800-461-8558 or email passengercare@ontarionorthland.ca.
